Trios Health | HealthBridge | May 2018

Because of our community’s generous support of the Trios Foundation, we now have a new DEXA (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry) bone density scanner. DEXA uses a very small dose of radiation to take x-rays of bones. The pictures are used to measure bone loss and to assess some- one’s risk of fractures. DEXA is the most accurate test available to diagnose osteoporosis, a disease in which bones become thin and fragile and may break. The purchase of the DEXA scanner is a great example of how donations to the Foundation are used to enhance the quality of care that patients receive at Trios Health. Bone density scanning can alert a physician to early signs of bone loss, allowing for treatment to begin even before osteoporosis sets in. It’s a quick test that requires no anesthesia, and it’s painless. Thank you to all the Foundation donors who helped bring this valuable, state-of-the-art scanner to Trios Health. ON THE MOVE Improved Sleep Center Opens at Vista Field Better Days Ahead As of this newsletter’s print- ing, Trios Health’s financial challenges persist. Though for some it seems like a never-ending marathon, we have faith that in a matter of years, the current hardships will be a distant memory as we usher in a new era of stability and growth. Over the past month, significant progress was made on two fronts: the Chapter 9 bankruptcy plan and discussions with RCCH Healthcare Partners. Current indicators point to a likely emergence from bankruptcy this summer followed by a potential acquisition. As we await the final- ization of our bankruptcy process, one reality that will complicate our situation is the slower months ahead. In healthcare, patient needs— and therefore volumes— tend to decrease during the summer months, a reality that will likely collide with the crescendo of fiscal pressures. Steadfastly committed While we are managing through what we believe will be our last major financial hurdle, we once again ask for your contin- ued support. Come to us when you need care. Know that our providers and staff remain steadfastly commit- ted to delivering safe and excellent service. Believe, as we do, that better days are coming for us and for healthcare in the Tri-Cities community. #WatchUsComeBack Help us make a difference! May 2018 3 The Trios Care Center at Vista Field is undergo- ing a remodel to make room for our new and improved Sleep Center, which was previously located at the Care Center at Grandridge. The Sleep Center at Vista Field will open Monday, May 21, with five sleep rooms for overnight sleep studies. Sleep studies are one way to help diagnose sleep problems, such as sleep apnea—a potentially serious condition in which breathing becomes shallow or even stops during sleep. In addition to new accommodations for the Sleep Center, the rest of the Care Center at Vista Field is being updated to accommodate more providers and services. Provider practices available include internal medicine, infectious disease, pulmonology, and sleep medicine. Services include outpatient endoscopy, diagnostic imaging, and outpatient surgery by High Desert Surgery Center. “Over the past year or so, we’ve been updating our clinic facilities to create a better experience for our patients,” said Lorie Orozco, Director, Trios Medical Group Operations. “We’ve streamlined our services to create bet- ter neighborhood access to primary care and specialties. Our patients are excited about the changes at the Care Center at Vista Field and so are our staff.” For a list of all Trios Care Centers and their addresses and phone numbers, go to trioshealth.org/ Outpatient .
